Born in Maio, Cape Verde, Tibau Tavares is an internationally respected composer whose journey has taken him across Europe and beyond.
It was in Germany that Tibau crossed paths with Joaquin Ramos, the owner of Green Islands Apparel. What began as a natural connection quickly turned into a shared vision, driven by mutual respect for culture, creativity, and storytelling.
Their chemistry and alignment in values led to the idea of creating something lasting—an apparel collection that would honor Tibau Tavares’ artistic journey and legacy.
The Journey
He remembers that at the age of six he already plays at school and in church. As a joke, he says he was born with the guitar in his hand and the music in his heart. His sensitivity to music makes "Tibau" Tavares one of the most popular Cape Verdean composers. Lura, Isa Pereira and Zizi Vaz are just some of the interpreters who give voice to his creations.
